Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Kosigi

Preventive care in Kosigi is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Space and the outdoors with a German Shepherd Puppy

Homes around Kosigi usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the German Shepherd Puppy right for Kosigi?

The German Shepherd Puppy does well in Kosigi, with one caveat worth knowing up front: moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips. For a loyal, protective, intelligent, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Kosigi is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A German Shepherd needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Kosigi stay warm, with even December nights around 16°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from September, and September is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new German Shepherd puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Kosigi are January, July, August, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
