Feeding a giant dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a giant frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Saint Bernard Puppy

Homes around Mandavalli usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Saint Bernard Puppy right for Mandavalli?

Mandavalli is coastal tropical — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention — and the Saint Bernard Puppy is a giant-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Saint Bernard Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across South India tend to find this dog a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Summer in Mandavalli peaks in May at about 37°C. That is manageable for a Saint Bernard, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters in Mandavalli stay warm, with even January nights around 19°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from July to October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Saint Bernard puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Mandavalli are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
