Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Ongole

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Ongole, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Grooming and coat care in Ongole

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Ongole being coastal tropical, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Living with a Border Collie Puppy in Ongole

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a medium-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Winters in Ongole stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Border Collie puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Ongole are December to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
