Is the Afghan Hound Puppy right for Parvathipuram?

Parvathipuram is humid coastal — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Afghan Hound Puppy is a large-sized, aloof, dignified, independent breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Homes around Parvathipuram usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in Parvathipuram

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Parvathipuram being humid coastal, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Parvathipuram is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Parvathipuram stay warm, with even January nights around 17°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Parvathipuram are January, February, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
