Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Shih Tzu

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a bold, lively, friendly dog the fit is usually good either way.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Shih Tzu right for Ramagiri?

The Shih Tzu does well in Ramagiri, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important. For a bold, lively, friendly, small-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Living with a Shih Tzu in Ramagiri

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a small-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Ramagiri is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Ramagiri are mild, with January nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

Ramagiri has no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Ramagiri are January, June, July, August, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
