Health and vet care in Santhipuram

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a giant dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a giant build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Saint Bernard Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Santhipuram

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Saint Bernard Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Summer in Santhipuram peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Saint Bernard, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters in Santhipuram are mild, with January nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from September to October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Saint Bernard puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Santhipuram are January, February, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
