The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a tiny dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a tiny build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and humid conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Vijayawada West

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Maltese Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Space and the outdoors with a Maltese Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Is the Maltese Puppy right for Vijayawada West?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and a tiny-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Maltese Puppy adapts well to Vijayawada West on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Vijayawada West is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Maltese needs real protection from that: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 17°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Maltese puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
