Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Vizianagaram

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Vizianagaram, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Living with a Border Collie Puppy in Vizianagaram

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Border Collie Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Grooming and coat care in Vizianagaram

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Vizianagaram being coastal tropical, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Vizianagaram is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Border Collie needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 17°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and September is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Border Collie puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
