Grooming and coat care in Tezpur

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Tezpur being high-rainfall tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In high-rainfall tropical conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Is the Akita Inu Puppy right for Tezpur?

The Akita Inu Puppy does well in Tezpur, with one caveat worth knowing up front: near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention. For a loyal, courageous, dignified, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Tezpur

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Akita Inu Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summer here peaks in May at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Akita Inu, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Akita Inu puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
