Living with a Pug Puppy in Tingkhong

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Pug Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Tingkhong?

Tingkhong is high-rainfall tropical — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the Pug Puppy is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In high-rainfall tropical conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Tingkhong

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
