The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a aloof, dignified, independent dog the fit is usually good either way.

Health and vet care in Majura

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the dry summer months rather than during it. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Majura

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Majura, the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.
