Is the Golden Retriever right for Rajkot West?

The Golden Retriever does well in Rajkot West, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else. For a family friendly, good with kids, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Health and vet care in Rajkot West

The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and arid conditions water matters as much as food — the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Rajkot West is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Golden Retriever needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Rajkot West are December to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
