Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Ambala?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Greyhound Puppy adapts well to Ambala on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Grooming and coat care in Ambala

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Ambala being hot, dry, the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Ambala is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
