Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Mandi

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Mandi, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Is the Afghan Hound Puppy right for Mandi?

Mandi is cool hill — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority — and the Afghan Hound Puppy is a large-sized, aloof, dignified, independent breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Homes around Mandi usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cool hill conditions water matters as much as food — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in Mandi

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Afghan Hound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
