Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Telka

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Shih Tzu than intensity ever will. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Grooming and coat care in Telka

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Telka being cool hill, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Is the Shih Tzu right for Telka?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Shih Tzu adapts well to Telka on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Living with a Shih Tzu in Telka

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Shih Tzu room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners in the northern region tend to find this dog a playful, affectionate, gentle companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

The city sits at about 1,743 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 29°C in July, so heat is rarely the problem for a Shih Tzu that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about -2°C in January. A Shih Tzu feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive are May, June and September: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
