Living with a Golden Retriever in Rajouri

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Golden Retriever. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Is the Golden Retriever right for Rajouri?

The Golden Retriever does well in Rajouri, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others. For a family friendly, good with kids, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Space and the outdoors with a Golden Retriever

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Summer in Rajouri peaks in June at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Golden Retriever, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winter nights in Rajouri drop to about 3°C in January. A Golden Retriever copes well with cold, but a puppy still needs a warm, draught-free bed for its first winter.

The rainy season runs from July, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Rajouri are March, April, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
