Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Summer here peaks in April at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
