Is the Border Collie Puppy right for Kanayannur?

Kanayannur is warm and humid — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important — and the Border Collie Puppy is a medium-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Border Collie Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Grooming and coat care in Kanayannur

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, a Border Collie Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summer here peaks in March at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Border Collie, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 24°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Border Collie puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
