Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Kollam

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Kollam, the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Is the Shih Tzu Puppy Brown & Black right for Kollam?

Kollam is warm and humid — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important — and the Shih Tzu Puppy Brown & Black is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Health and vet care in Kollam

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Summer here peaks in March at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Shih Tzu Puppy Brown & Black, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 21°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu Puppy Brown & Black puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
