Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Kothamangalam

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Chow Chow Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Space and the outdoors with a Chow Chow Puppy

Homes around Kothamangalam usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Health and vet care in Kothamangalam

Preventive care in Kothamangalam is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

The Chow Chow Puppy adapts well to Kothamangalam on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Chow Chow, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 23°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Chow Chow puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
