The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Shih Tzu right for Kottayam?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Shih Tzu adapts well to Kottayam on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Space and the outdoors with a Shih Tzu

Homes around Kottayam usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Health and vet care in Kottayam

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.
