The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Thodupuzha

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Thodupuzha, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Living with a German Shepherd Puppy in Thodupuzha

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Space and the outdoors with a German Shepherd Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, protective, intelligent dog the fit is usually good either way.

Health and vet care in Thodupuzha

Preventive care in Thodupuzha is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Summer in Thodupuzha peaks in March at about 36°C. That is manageable for a German Shepherd, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters in Thodupuzha stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new German Shepherd puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Thodupuzha are December to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
