Exercise and routine through the peak summer and winter swings in Gohad

The peak summer and winter swings is the stretch that needs planning. The climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Shih Tzu than intensity ever will. Provide shade and constant water in summer; a warm bed and blanket in winter.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Shih Tzu right for Gohad?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Shih Tzu adapts well to Gohad on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.

Space and the outdoors with a Shih Tzu

Homes around Gohad usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In subtropical plains conditions water matters as much as food — the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Gohad is hottest in May, averaging 44°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A light sweater helps a small Shih Tzu on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Gohad are November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
