Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, keep water available and watch intake through the peak summer and winter swings.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Homes around Gohparu usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Living with a Afghan Hound Puppy in Gohparu

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners across the heartland tend to find this dog a aloof, dignified, independent companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Afghan Hound Puppy right for Gohparu?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Afghan Hound Puppy adapts well to Gohparu on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Watch for seasonal coat shedding as temperatures change and brush accordingly.

Gohparu is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Gohparu are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
