The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Dachshund Puppy

Homes around Porompat usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Living with a Dachshund Puppy in Porompat

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Dachshund Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Porompat

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Porompat being high-rainfall tropical, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Dachshund has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
