Grooming and coat care in Ukhrul

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Ukhrul being monsoon-heavy, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Ukhrul

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Ukhrul?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pug Puppy adapts well to Ukhrul on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

The city sits at about 1,842 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 24°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pug that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 2°C in January. A Pug feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

No month here is easy on every count for a Pug, so plan the first two weeks around a cool, dry room rather than the calendar.
