Grooming and coat care in Amlarem

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Amlarem being lush, wet tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In lush, wet tropical conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Amlarem

Preventive care in Amlarem is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Amlarem

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Amlarem, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The city sits at about 1,007 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 27°C in August, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pug that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
