The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pug Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a charming, mischievous, loving companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Batabari

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Grooming and coat care in Batabari

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, a Pug Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the extended rainy season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Summer here peaks in April at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
