The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Pomeranian Puppy right for Dadenggiri?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pomeranian Puppy adapts well to Dadenggiri on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Grooming and coat care in Dadenggiri

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Dadenggiri being high-rainfall tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Dadenggiri

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Dadenggiri, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Summer here peaks in April at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Pomeranian, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A light sweater helps a small Pomeranian on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Pomeranian puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
