Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Space and the outdoors with a German Shepherd Puppy

Homes around Selsella usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Living with a German Shepherd Puppy in Selsella

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a German Shepherd Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a loyal, protective, intelligent companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Is the German Shepherd Puppy right for Selsella?

Selsella is monsoon-heavy — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the German Shepherd Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, protective, intelligent breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summer in Selsella peaks in April at about 35°C. That is manageable for a German Shepherd, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new German Shepherd puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Selsella are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
