Grooming and coat care in Shallang

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Shallang being high-rainfall tropical, the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Shallang

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Shallang, the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Health and vet care in Shallang

Preventive care in Shallang is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In high-rainfall tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Summer in Shallang peaks in April at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Shallang are March and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
