Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Atoizu

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Living with a Maltese Puppy in Atoizu

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a tiny-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Maltese Puppy right for Atoizu?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and a tiny-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Maltese Puppy adapts well to Atoizu on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Health and vet care in Atoizu

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Maltese puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
