Living with a Pomeranian Puppy in Pfutsero

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pomeranian Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Pfutsero

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Pfutsero being high-rainfall tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Space and the outdoors with a Pomeranian Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a vivacious, bold, intelligent dog the fit is usually good either way.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

The city sits at about 2,023 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 23°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pomeranian that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 1°C in January. A Pomeranian feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

No month here is easy on every count for a Pomeranian, so plan the first two weeks around a cool, dry room rather than the calendar.
