Is the Dalmatian Puppy right for Sekruzu?

Sekruzu is lush, wet tropical — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline — and the Dalmatian Puppy is a large-sized, energetic, playful, outgoing breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. The green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Dalmatian Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 25°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Dalmatian that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 2°C in January. A Dalmatian feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Dalmatian puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
