Grooming and coat care in Sekruzu

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Sekruzu being monsoon-heavy, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Living with a Pug Puppy in Sekruzu

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pug Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a charming, mischievous, loving companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

The city sits at about 1,711 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 25°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pug that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 2°C in January. A Pug feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
