Grooming and coat care in Belaghar

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Shih Tzu's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Living with a Shih Tzu in Belaghar

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Shih Tzu room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Belaghar

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Shih Tzu than intensity ever will. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Health and vet care in Belaghar

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Belaghar is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C. A light sweater helps a small Shih Tzu on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Belaghar are February, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
