The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Pomeranian Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a vivacious, bold, intelligent dog the fit is usually good either way.

Health and vet care in Dhama

Preventive care in Dhama is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Is the Pomeranian Puppy right for Dhama?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pomeranian Puppy adapts well to Dhama on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Dhama is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Pomeranian needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C. A light sweater helps a small Pomeranian on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Pomeranian puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
