Living with a Pug Puppy in Khordha

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Khordha

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Khordha, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Khordha?

The Pug Puppy does well in Khordha, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a charming, mischievous, loving, small-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
