Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Koraput

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Koraput?

Koraput is humid coastal — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Pug Puppy is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Space and the outdoors with a Pug Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with December nights around 10°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
