The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Nandapur?

The Pug Puppy does well in Nandapur, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a charming, mischievous, loving, small-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Nandapur

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Pug, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with December nights around 11°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
