Feeding a medium dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cold mountain conditions water matters as much as food — crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Space and the outdoors with a Border Collie Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.
