Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Gangtok

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a German Shepherd Puppy than intensity ever will. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Space and the outdoors with a German Shepherd Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.
