Grooming and coat care in Gangtok

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Maltipoo Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Gangtok

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Maltipoo Puppy than intensity ever will. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

The city sits at about 1,654 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 28°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Maltipoo that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Maltipoo feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Maltipoo puppy, the easiest months to arrive are May and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
