Is the French Mastiff Puppy right for Kethepally?

Kethepally is moderate Deccan — the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds — and the French Mastiff Puppy is a giant-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a giant dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a giant frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, keep water available and watch intake through the brief pre-monsoon heat.

Health and vet care in Kethepally

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the brief pre-monsoon heat rather than during it. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Grooming and coat care in Kethepally

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Kethepally being moderate Deccan, the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Kethepally is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A French Mastiff needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and a giant body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

Most of the year's rain falls in September. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new French Mastiff puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
