The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Shih Tzu right for Korutla?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Shih Tzu adapts well to Korutla on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep vaccinations, deworming and annual vet checks on schedule year-round.

Living with a Shih Tzu in Korutla

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Shih Tzu. Owners in the southern region tend to find this dog a playful, affectionate, gentle companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In mild tropical plateau conditions water matters as much as food — the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Korutla

Preventive care in Korutla is largely a matter of anticipating the brief pre-monsoon heat. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Korutla is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Korutla stay warm, with even December nights around 14°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Korutla are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
