Grooming and coat care in Mattampally

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, a Shih Tzu's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Mattampally

The brief pre-monsoon heat is the stretch that needs planning. The plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Shih Tzu than intensity ever will. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Space and the outdoors with a Shih Tzu

Homes around Mattampally usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Health and vet care in Mattampally

Preventive care in Mattampally is largely a matter of anticipating the brief pre-monsoon heat. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. Mattampally is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
