The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Narmetta

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, a Shih Tzu's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Narmetta

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Narmetta, comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Space and the outdoors with a Shih Tzu

Homes around Narmetta usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Health and vet care in Narmetta

Preventive care in Narmetta is largely a matter of anticipating the brief pre-monsoon heat. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Narmetta is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Shih Tzu needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Narmetta are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Narmetta are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
