Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Nawabpet

The brief pre-monsoon heat is the stretch that needs planning. Comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Golden Retriever than intensity ever will. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Is the Golden Retriever right for Nawabpet?

Nawabpet is moderate Deccan — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward — and the Golden Retriever is a large-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Nawabpet is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Golden Retriever needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters in Nawabpet are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Nawabpet are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
