The first week

Moradabad is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive in Moradabad are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
