Grooming and coat care in Dhoomakot

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Dhoomakot being temperate highland, crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Orignal Toy Pom Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Is the Orignal Toy Pom Puppy right for Dhoomakot?

Dhoomakot is hottest in May, averaging 39°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Orignal Toy Pom needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A light sweater helps a tiny Orignal Toy Pom on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Orignal Toy Pom puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
